Dubai und die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate

Man kann vom “Projekt Dubai” halten was man möchte, beeindruckend ist es alle mal. Für mich waren die zwei Tage jedenfalls sehr schön. Ich kam mir dabei vor wie in einer anderen Welt.

Meine Reise begann mit einer 4-stündigen Zugfahrt von Dresden nach Frankfurt. Mit der in Dubai heimischen Fluglinie “Emirates” ging es nach einer Enteisung der Flügel mit einem 6-stündigen Flug heraus aus dem schneereichen Winter zum luxuriösen Flughafen Dubais. Fotos von Flughäfen sind in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten leider unerwünscht und Verstöße werden mitunter recht streng verfolgt. Ich weiß nicht, ob dies nur die Sicherheitskontrollen oder alle Bereiche betrifft – ich habe es jedenfalls lieber unterlassen. …

Work & Travel in Neuseeland

Im Januar werde ich meinen Work & Travel-Aufenthalt in Neuseeland beginnen. Auf dem Weg dahin werde ich für zwei Nächte in Dubai Halt machen. Nach mindestens einem halben Jahr in Neuseeland möchte ich noch einmal für ein paar Wochen nach Asien reisen, wahrscheinlich nach Thailand. Using Gulp.js for TypeScript, Sass and copying assets

Gulp.js is a Node.js tool to automate your workflow which is very popular in the front end  web developer community. In the following I will explain how to use the tool to compile TypeScript, Sass and copy assets. I will provide a repository for demonstration. It took me quite some time to setup and test the necessary Gulpfile, but once it works one can really profit.

We will be able to do the following things automatically:

  • Compile TypeScript and Sass
  • Watch and recompile files on change
  • Minification
  • Source maps (both inline and external)
  • Copy assets
  • Clean files
  • Well-configurable through config file

Evaluation of Ionic 2, React Native and Xamarin.Forms

In 2016 I wrote my diploma thesis (in German) on “Evaluation and Prototype Implementation of a Mobile Application Using Modern Hybrid Frameworks”. With those mobile hybrid frameworks, alias cross-platform frameworks, an app project only has to be implemented once and can run on all target systems although they differ in technology.

As part of my thesis I redeveloped the mobile app for different job portals on for the company pludoni GmbH in Dresden. Therefore we had to decide for a framework. The other big part was the mentioned evaluation of Ionic 2, React Native and Xamarin.Forms.

Who I am and what this blog will be about

I am a guy from Dresden, Germany in his mid-twenties and I just finished my studies of informatics with my thesis on “Evaluation and Prototype Implementation of a Mobile Application Using Modern Hybrid Frameworks”. During my studies I worked as a web developer – first with PHP, later with Ruby on Rails. My favorites are the Go language and front end technologies like Angular 2.
